Rush
Rush
Description
Part of my Imagined Places series. One original mixed-media photo-encaustic piece was made (SOLD), so only small open edition pieces are available. The swirling newton rings found in the image are an artifact of the film scanning process (occurring when multiple pieces of film are sandwiched together in the film holder
Rush is a combination of multiple images. 1) A group of fading purple irises, taken with a pinhole camera directly into the sun (which accounts for the sun flares seen in the thick green leaves) and 2) a group of large orange poppies. I titled it “Rush” for the feeling of being overtaken with light and as the image shatters into a kaleidoscope of rich, whirling color.
